Try getting up earlier

Getting started early helps you prepare for the day ahead. You don’t just jump into the day and wake up two hours in. Your body needs time to wake up.

Would you run a marathon after being awake for 45 minutes? No way. You need time to warm up. The same goes for your mind in the morning. You need time to get prepared.

You then don’t have to rush through everything. You can take your time. If you start your day out rushed and flustered, the first part of your day will be the same. That wastes time you could have spent being productive.

It doesn’t have to be anything drastic at first. Try getting up 10 minutes early. You’ll be surprised how much better you’ll feel. You’ll have just enough extra time to prepare yourself for the day.

It’s not easy waking up early. You need to really push yourself to do it. If you really want to achieve a goal or improve a skill you need to wake up. Try putting your phone across the room or setting out your gym clothes in the morning. Just something small to make it easy for you. Once you get up you’ll realize you’re not that tired.

The first few days are the hardest. It’s like anything new you do. It will be a struggle in the beginning. Force yourself through those beginning stages. Once you start waking up early for a couple weeks in a row it will become a habit.

Make sure you do it on the weekends too. As much as we like to sleep in on the weekends you have to get up. That’s the only way you’ll get used to it. That’s how it becomes a habit. Again, it doesn’t have to be anything crazy at first. Start out small and increase the minutes you wake up early over time.

It will pay off. Once you finish working all day you don’t want to get home and work on something else. Do it before your job starts. Once you get home you can focus on reading or spending time with your family or other tasks you enjoy.

Try getting up early. It will pay off.
