Reading

“A capacity, and taste, for reading gives access to whatever has already been discovered by others.” -Abraham Lincoln

Read instead of watching tv. Replace the time you spend in front of a screen and spend it in front of a good book. You can either read for fun, for knowledge or for both knowledge and fun.

Some people read non-fiction in the morning and fiction before bed. You should read to understand what worked for people in the past and what didn’t. You’re not going to remember every part of every book. But the important points will stick with you.

Place book markers in your books. Highlight important sections. Make sure to go back to those books and reread the important parts.

Reading is important. It helps us learn everyday. Make sure to get in at least 30 minutes of reading each day. If you don’t have 30 minutes, listen to an audiobook in your car. Everyone can make time for the things that are important to them.

If you think you don’t have the time to read, you’re not truly invested in your future. If you want to get better at your work read about it. Read articles and/or books of successful individuals in your field. Learn what’s worked for them. Learn the small tips to improve yourself.

Focus on continually getting better. Focus on always learning. Focus on the person you want to become. Reading can help you get there.

Take the time to read. Don’t make excuses. It’s only 30 minutes per day. That time will compound after a while. You’ll learn so much about a subject.

Now act on what you’ve read. Implement it into your daily schedule. Reading is the gateway to becoming better at your craft.
